What happens when we jettison the story of finding one single soulmate in our life? All In examines triadic love relationships and other polyamorous constellations. Suggesting that people can romantically love more than one person at a time brings up questions about the way society conditions us to love. Because there are so few public models and accounts of polyamory, All In invites audiences to explore this perhaps unfamiliar terrain by sharing stories of non-traditional relationships. The three performers collected interview material from over twenty people in San Francisco and Berlin with experience in triadic relationships and also incorporated their own experiences in this work. The result is a performance that includes movement, singing, and spatial environments that emphasize diverse ways of loving and understanding a relationship. The performers challenge the socially dominant dual-relationship model and encourage the audience to think about love differently, to notice how we often restrict ourselves by blindly holding onto firmly established models of partnership.
